I have some minimal rust on my car, but nothing bigger than the size of a fingernail. Would it be fine if I cut those tiny pieces out, sand it down, and use some of that Bondo with Fiberglass-strands in it, or would it bubble like I've heard some of you guys talking about?

I still need to remove my bumpers and check out those areas real good for any rust also. I took everything out of my trunk and moved all the carpet, and spare tire and whatnot, no rust that I can see, so I guess that's a good sign. As Kroy said, behind the rear bumper is a common place for rust, what about behind the front one?

Thanks for any help.

Its hard to tell. It might bubble it might not bubble. Im having the same problems myself. (As you can see in my thread) Im just getting it done right so I dont have to worry about it anymore.

Yeah, I almost posted my questions in a reply to your thread Bloodlust, but decided against it because it's your thread concerning your car not mine.

But that's not the point. This is:

I figured that the Fiberglass Bondo would probably work if I got rid of the rusted metal, and since it's such a small amount of rust anyway.

Also another question, if the Fiberglass Bondo wouldn't be a good solution to my minimal rust because of bubbling issues, what about Bondo Body-Filler instead?

I just don't see the point in welding in new metal for such miniscule amounts of rust, but, if it's necessary then my 3G will have it.

Let me know what you think.

Thanks.

Hmm.. its hard to say. The rust might actually be in more places under the paint than you think. Its better to take out a bigger piece to stop it from spreading. Otherwise you are going to be doing the same thing over and over again. But it is worth a try tho.

Never thought about it like that...thanks for the advice.

Anybody else care to share opinions? The more the better.

Thanks.
