For any one doing the weber conversion it is a must that u get a better fuel pump. A fuel pump that rocks 4psi's thats wats requiered and high volume for a steady fuel flow. The reason for this is that the stock fuel pump does not send a steady fuel flow at low rpms because it pluses the fuel. It cause the weber to boggle in the low rpms. A bigger filter is also good more air more fuel.
there is a cheap velocity stack set at A DGV remote filter adaptor and a poly utherane velocity stack from webercarbs.com or a ram flow filter.


By the way make sure u spray the linkages wit slicone spray or go to a bike shop and ask for teflon juice it doesnt brake up in wet weather.

I remember running 4 psi with the stock carb... damn did I spin tires.
Only trouble it the fuel would lock up at 3,600 rpm.

I had the stock pump hooked to a dial in FPR... bad idea i guess.

So actually a better fuel pump will help people that can't or don't feel like getting a weber.

it is not the PSI that you need, you need fuel flow rate. 3.5psi with high flow rate will do just fine.

Ok so the pressure should be around 4psi.
Whats the flow rate? In gallons per hour or whatever.

what kind of modification/converstion needs to be done to put one of the carter fuel pumps on a 86 accord w/ a 32/36 weber carb?

it should be 3.5-4psi

Then whats the problem with the stock fuel pump? 86+ Accords have electric fuel pumps, the problem with mechanical fuel pumps is pulsing flow, but this doesn't seem to be the case with 86+ accords.

It should be but it only puts out about 3.2 - 3.5

the stock pump does not put out a steady fuel flow for the 32/36. Remember its a bigger carb it needs more fuel at a steady rate. as soon as u do the conversion i recommend u change the pump if u cant do it right away do it when u can u will feel the difference in performance i doesnt make sense to jet a carb that is not recieving the proper amount of air, fuel, spark. I feel its better to jet the carb after ur done doing ur mods. Get the weber first then work ur way to ur exhaust.

couldn't u just get a regulator? or is it necessary to replace the fuel pump

A reg wont help... you can build up PSI by adding a reg but as soon as the demand increases the stock pump wont have a high enough flow rate to keep up.
Plus certain regs lock up after 3,600 rpm... I had a guy in an RX-7 carbed run into the same problem.

Speed is money dont be cheap or u wont be fast there is no way around it. u can get a nice carter fuel pump that does not need a reg and is high VOLUME if i remember 70-80 gph and built in reg for 4psi. U can use it wit single or triple carbed set ups. so u are not losing and it is only 95 bucks comes wit mounting bracket. its also a rotary style pump.

Alright I'm finally realizing that my fuel is not the greatest and I think I over jetted my car b/c I didnt realize I just wasn't getting enough fuel flow.

I remember Holley had one and so did weber but that was spendy. The carbed accords have an inline pump and not an in tank pump right? I will have to check my service manual later.
