Well I must be tired and stupid.. but I just started wondering how come our engines just don't decide one day to spin in the opposite direction... I guessing it's all with the ignition timing... or is it preset somehow to spin one way? :beat:

And your timing belt would be pretty much...uhhh... worthless when spun the other way as well. It'll untension...

For one the starter starts off the direction it spins in. Then I guess its just the ignition and the camshaft that does the rest.
Check out the new Honda K series, its reverse rotation and the tranny is on the drivers side now. Kinda creepy to look at.
