Durabrand 10 disc MP3 changer.

Sure, it doesn't have the brand name lineage of Alpine or Kenwood, but it's solid, skip free and cost me less than 100 bucks! It'll handle normal discs, mp3 discs or a mix of both. Displays ID3 ver. 1 and 2 tags with all the info and allows for directory navigation and random play across all ten discs.

It comes with an FM modulator that, with a bit of solder work, can be fitted with a pair of RCAs for connection to your line-in on your deck (that's what I'm currently working on).

MP3 deck... MP3 changer... Life is good :cool2:

Thats pretty sweet. I would nix the modulator and run RCAs if I were you. Good score.

The modulator unit is integrated with the control unit for the changer. The good thing is that inside it there are solder points already in place for RCAs (They sell the same unit for FM mods or RCA inputs but only solder the wires for one side instead of selling two completely different units). All I have to do is remove the antenna wires and solder in a pair of RCA cables and I'm set.

eBay. Just search for "durabrand +mp3" and you'll come up with a few. Click around for the best price, usually you can score one for 100 or less.

I haven't had the chance to install it in my car yet (damn snow and ice!!!) but I've had it hooked up to my bench supply to check it out and lear it's features.

I'm damn impressed. It's fast loading and does everything that it advertises to a T. No flaws in mp3 playback at all. But my favorite feature has got to be THE SEARCH FUNCTION! I can use the keypad to enter the artist or song name, hit enter and it will search and display the song. Hit enter again and it'll start playing. This is the single most useful function of the whole thing, damn near needed when you've got a couple thousand songs loaded up.

I'd recommend this changer, and for the price and all the features it really can't be beaten.

Yeah, Wal-Mart sells Durabrand. I need to know who manufactures the changers for Durabrand though. The company mfg's for Durabrand and Boss (They both have a mp3 changer that is the same, besides some cosmetics). See if I can't "convince" some technical specs and pinouts out of 'em.
