i have a broken thing. a coolent line runs to this thing on the bottom of the intake manifold. it looks like it may be brass and has a spring sticking out of it. it is right above the oil filter.

please help so i can drive her for the first time

Hmm, I think that is the coolant pipe the runs to the water pump, or part of the oil filter base.
Go here: www.hondaautomotiveparts.com then click on parts store on the left.
That site is for a Honda dealer and has a database of parts with excelent diagrams.
You can buy it from them, or take the part # to a local dealership.
If its the pipe and you feel adventerous there is always the junkyard.

no this tube runs from the hard pipe to the intake below the carb then to the carb

i crawled under the car to get a better look . its the heat riser

yah, part of heat riser, but actually a thermovalve to the carb heat riser. It is supposed to cut off coolant to heat riser when engine gets to normal operating temp. After 17y i doubt mine works too, might be stuck either opened or closed. Just remove it and plug the ends..

you can remove it and plug the ends or you can replace it. i would recomend to replace it.
