i dont really get it what is someone gonna get from knowing your license plate number? wow i can drive down my road and know a number of peoples license plate numbers! is there something im missing here?

Easy, if someone sees you and likes it they can track it down through some not so legal resources and come and steal it.
Thats my paronoia speaking

In most states, you can call the BMV and get someone's address and/or phone number when you give them a plate number. Usually it's public record.

wtf... ill never blur my plates... thats gay... i dont take them off when i park it... so why take em off when i park it on the net??? e thieves??

the plate number can allow them to track you down if they want to. Do you tell strangers your address and phone number online?
It may not be that obvious, but you get the idea... its just an extension of peoples paranoias about e-theft. and yes there is such a thing, it happens with identities and credit card numbers all of the time.
