straight pipe?

would it hurt performance any if i removed my muffler?

i have hera stories of loosing back pressure so im asking what u guys think

well back presure is not what you should worry anout it is exhaust velocity. I actually lost peformance when I had no piping at all.

when my piping broke just before the muffler i had no power at all !! :(

if you just lop off ur muffler at the back, you will get an increase of about 8 horsepower. How ever if you undo the exaust manifold, there will be a loss of horse power. It will be very loud if you take off ur muffler. just warning you.

I would like to see the dyno results on that.

i could only see an increase in hp at extreme top end, like 5500 and higher. You will lose so much bottom end that it would hardly be worth the trouble.

i am getting a straight pipe but taking out the cat and replacing it with a straight pipe, leaving the muffler might get a siliencer to keep the noise down. Also getting it so that i can unbolt it and bolt on the cat for emissions and take if the rest of the year :D

hey mantis, when you replaced your resonator with a strait pipe, was there noticeable sound increase with your dynomax? i cant barely hear mine over the engine noise.

nah the sound didnt really change, im trying to find a way to make my exaust louder that my engine. the dynomax is just to quiet. is yours staticpat??

when i said staright pipe i dont think u guys under stood what i meant, i meant just cuting the muffler off and putting a resonated tip on the end.

what do u guys think about that? would i loose any power from this?
