It's a fuel management unit. It's mainly used in turbo and supercharged applications to make sure enough fuel get to each cylinder so there's no detonation. I thought they were an electronic system but maybe this is part of it too.

Actually they operate via vacuum lines. For instance an 8:1 FMU raises the fuel pressure 8psi per 1 lbs of boost.

some FMU are vacuum and some are electric.
