I thought the 86 and 87's used a 2 bolt pattern on the A pipe/flex pipe/header pipe to exhaust manifold connection. I thought the 88-89 Accords used a three bolt pattern for attaching the header pipe. However, my 86 Helm manual shows the 86 using a 3 bolt pattern just like the 88 and 89 Accords. I know the 88 and 89's have 2 O2 sensors on the manifold and the earlier ones had just one. Can someone confirm the interchange of header pipes on the 3 gees?? I don't think it matters if it a carb or FI, but I have FI

The 86-87 header (*at least on the LXI, but I'm sure its the same on the 86-87 carbed cars) is a 4-1 design. Whereas the 88-89 LXI is a 4-2-1 header design. So you cannot interchange header parts between 86-87*LXI's and 88-89 LXI's. BTW, yes the 86-87 header does only have 1 port for a o2 sensor.

Here are 2 pics of my 86LXI down pipe next to the DC Sports down pipe that I was about to install.

As you can see your right the 86-87 header pipe does bolt to the header with 3 bolts, but with a totally different spacing.

Thanks! Makes it easier when I see them side by side
