This isn't a terrible leakage, but I obviously need to have it stopped. The stack plates on my Weber are leaking . . . I was thinking about making gaskets from a roll of gasket material I have in my parts box.

Is the cork-looking gasket material that I have suitable for making the carburetor stack plates gaskets? Is there another gasket material that I should use instead that's better or more suited for carb gasket use? The stuff I have seems rather thick. I've checked & I have plenny of bolt remaining to attach the nuts when adding the 3 thicker gaskets.

Is there another alternative to getting the stack plates to stop leaking - rather than hand-making the gaskets?

Thanks,

IPF

I have used the PowerBead Ultra Black Max RVT Silicone Gasket Maker or the Ultra Black RTV before in fuel prone areas without provocation.

If you use the gasket material that you have, make sure that it is oil resistant to say the least. The cork material may saturate and over time become un-reliable. My 2 cents...

go to a local speed shop and get carb gasket material... make sure you torque the hell out of the nuts... or else you will get leaking with any gaskets

i'd say either use some silicone form a gasket stuff that is specificly to be used around gasoline and solvents. or, you could used some of that Mr. Gasket sheet of gasket material, that works great when you dont have any stock replacement gasket. as for the cork one, i dont know about that. it will probley work, but i wouldnt reccomend it if you can get something else.
