The Cost of SE-i Rear brake swap if done right

Well after my nightmarish weekend I have my SE-i rear brakes on. I decided if I was going to do it I might as well do it right and buy new parts. I paid about 120 bucks for the rear setup, minus pads and rotors and the proportioning valve. That included the knuckles, hubs, calipers and Ebrake cables. Pads ran me 24.99. Rotors were 35.88 each for Bendix rotors, thats all advance could get. They have 17 buck rotors for the front but the cheapest rears were 35.88 each. New hoses were 15.99 for the inners and 13.99 for the outters, thats one side so double that. Definitely get new hoses, you don't want 15 year old hoses in you nice new setup. Calipers are what killed me. 85.88 each with a 35 buck core. I decided to replace them rather than chancing the ones that were on originally. They looked good but you never know. A snapped bleed screw or leaking caliper midway into the job will render your car undriveable and then you have to tear it all apart again so I said hell with it and changed them then. So before tax and cores it ran me 328.47 and about 426 after with core fee's and tax. I ended up replacing a bad master cylinder too so add another 56.99 to the bill.

Grand total all in all for the setup plus parts ran me almost 600 bucks. Not too bad all things considered. I haven't gotten to play with them yet because of the ruptured front line. I don't want to risk rupturing the other front.

I'd suggest going with stainless lines for anyone who wants to do this. They may seem expensive but they are actually comparable to regular lines. To replace ALL my rubber lines it is going to end up at about 107.54 plus tax. You can get stainless lines for about 125 bucks plus shipping. I'd rather have stainless for a few bucks more

I wish I knew you were replacing all that, I don't know if you could have used anything from the hatch for that but all my brake stuff was completely redone before the tranny went. Lines, cylinder, drums, calipers, rotors, etc.

Well the rear lines are different theres 2 lines instead of one. I don't think I could have used anything from the front since the 88-89 brakes are bigger than the 86-87's. Lines may have been the same in the front but I haven't researched it. I think I may use the rubber lines for a week, order stainless from technafit and just flush the rubber ones with alchohol and return them

Lists brake cables left and right for the SE-i but I have no idea if they are the right ones since I didn't need them. I'm not sure how correct they are since they only list one brake line for the rear on the SE-i when there are actually 2. Unless they just have 1 long line, who knows. Just for a possible reference the numbers are

Im going to try to finish powdercoating mine next week and pick up the rebuild kit so i can assmeble the rear calipers. Other than that all i need are the rotors, pads, cables, and i want to do a rear camber kit.
