Hey everyone I'm kinda new to this whole 3g thing and I was just wondering if you could help me with this. I'm looking to get a HU to replace the factory one and I was looking at either the Pioneer DEH-P550MP or the 5500MP and I was wondering if these would fit for the car and also if anyone has one or knows how good they are? O yeah, it's for an 89 lxi coupe if that helps. Thanks a lot.

Ithe DEH 5500MP wil fit with no problem. If you have the stock radio now I recommend buying the wiring harness adapter so you don't have to hack you old plug off. If you go to Crutchfield.com their site will tell you what will or will not fit in just about any car. They list head units, speakers, and speaker locations. I know their not the cheapest to buy from but the fit guide is worth lookin at

go with the old Alpine 9805 or the new 9825...the former for around $165 and the latter around $200 with all the fixins from Crutchfield

Would those be a better choice than the Pioneer 760MP or the 550MP? The 760 was a little more than I wanted to spend but I've read a lot of good things about it.

Werd, I have that deck, looks awesome in the 3g, and sounds wicked. Time correction is a nice plus too.

But I have heard many pioneer decks, and they sound pretty good, and seem to be a pretty good bang for the buck.

youll be best off with probably the pioneer but the alpine is an excellent unit too. IMO Pioneer is the best value for the money and holds up better than Sony and JVC

Does anyone know the difference between the ones like the DEH-P550MP and the 560 or the 750MP and 760MP? Are the ones with the 60 just this years model? Or is there something different about them or what? Thanks in advance

Yeah I used to have one of them. I never did mess around with the sound correction, but the only thing i didnt like about the HU is at the time I didnt have any amps, and the frequency selection wasnt very good. It was either 50, 100, or 120. What happened to good old 80?

Id recommend a good kenwood excelon HU for anyone who isnt powering their speakers with an amp with an adjustable crossover. But all in all I pretty much liked the headunit that Alex posted.

Ya, I love my CDA-9813, except that it doesnt show the titles of any songs on CD's that I have, even if they are bought CD's, and i cant get it to work on burned CD's either. Kinda a pain in the ass, so I might upgrade.

Not all CD's, even store bought ones have CD text. I think some Sony produced CD's have text but not much more. The 9813 will play burned CD's but just won't title songs, right?

i burn my cds all the time and title comes up just fine. you just need to mess with your software.

Yep, same with mine. The CD's I burn display the titles on my CD player. I just wasn't clear if he had trouble palying burned CD's or just displaying the titles. I think if he is just copying one CD to another it might not display titles, but if he is burning music from his computer it should be displaying titles.
