Could be bad clutch or the cable is snapped or needs adjustment.

yup its a cable problem. look next to the tranny. see if the cable loose or tight. pretty much loose. if it is. just try to tight it by turning the black knob. if its still loose its the cable it snap.

he said that he can put it in gear and it revs, that means the pressure plate is messed up

it means the clutch disk is completly thrown slipping, when you have it in gear do you smeal, see or hear anything from the tranny?

I can put it in gear but the clutch wont come out for me to drive there for I cant go anywhere this only started to happen when it got cold outside. I think it will work if the car warmed up thing is I am almost out of gas and I would rather just fix it then screw around with it. It was doing this for a few days the thing is you would just have to manually pop the clutch up with the corner of the sole on your shoe. when you start it you push the clutch up and then put it all the way to the floor to start it and there is only maybe an inch of resistance on the clutch if that. Please help me I am stuck driving this damn Tauras and it is crazy!! Ps: From Holly

i would check the clutch cable, you can adjust it, try that first and if that doesnt work, be priceing some clutch sets.

Are you saying that you depress the clutch pedal, put the car in gear (and it does go into gear), but then the pedal will not come back up, but if you lift it with your heel, then it will engage? If it is the pedal that is not coming back up why you say it is not engaging, then you need to look at your cable and pedal mechanisms. That EXi uses a manual, cable clutch right? Not a hydraulic clutch?

U pull up the pedal and the clutch will still not disengage.Inless it is worm.I was playing with it today. And u know the arm that the cable hooks on to well I push it down manual with my bat and it will disengage.Once it is disengaged after start up u dont have to put the clutch to the floor so it will disengage between shifts.Just when u ingage in all the way it will not want to disengage.

Sounds like you won't know anything until you drop the tranny and inspect it but I have a feeling the release arm springs broken. After all that what moves the release bearing back isn't it?

Yeah, I think Vinny is right. The release fork spring is what brings the actuator arm back to neutral.
