this hole is in the side of the block right by where the tranny is butted up the the block. i'd wondered what this was. its like right above the engine code number. so, anyone know about that? i'm thinking that may just be a vent thing? oh, and the oil is front the leaky seal on the distributor.

It's the timing hole. There used to be a plug that covered it. It's ok to have it open, mines like that.

the clutch is on the OTHER side of the flywheel. If it worries you that much then order one. PN 11109-PC6-000 they run about 3 bucks

if having no plug in the timing hole bothers you, you need therapy

It's the dis o-ring, if you saw oil next to the vc seal area, then it is the seal. I cleaned off the area next to the vc seal on mine and it is leaking from the dis o-ring. so yours may be doing the same thing.

i tried everything i can about the oil leak from the dist, no solution. So this is what i did. Get the Red Gasket maker, and put a very small bead right near the bracket on the Head and bolt the dist back on. Man... even after 6000 miles, i dont have a drop of oil from there. Its amazing. This does not affect your ignition timiing.

hey smufguy, can you post a pic of what you did to stop your oil leak? just to give me a visual idea. they mechanic i have been taking my car to said it wasnt the head gasket, but the distributor seal. im guessing thats right because it leaks on the under side of the dist. looks like its the corner of the head, but its not. also, i would probley be seeing some water in my oil if it was the head gasket.........oh and i have a tube of that red gasket maker!

thats the best way to do it, but the easy fix is the gasket maker, I dont have a digital camera buddy. so all i can give you is a paragraph of how to do it.

But if u can wait for a week, i should be getting my digital cam (Its on its way in the mail ooooooo im excited)) and i can post it. but its no big deal, its just getting that gasket maker on the dist and it stops it, ill post pics or email you better yet those pics when i get the cam.
