Have you had working speakers ever in the front? I am not sure what the Ohms are on the factory speakers? It's also possible you now have a bad solder joint in the stereo. Which is why I took mine out back in the day. Also check to be SURE you have your polarity correct on the speaker swap it over and see if you don’t hear a difference.

yeah.....you can't swap the two connectors around cause ones bigger than the other...

Have you tried the speaker that sounds like crap on the other side and vise-versa to see if it's doing it on that side as well? You should be able to swap the wires by holding them to the terminals and hear a difference. IF the sound improves you can change the connectors to fit.

Are the speakers BRAND NEW ? Do you have a Volt Metor ? If so check that speaker for it's Ohms it should read 3.6 to 4.0 Ohms My guess is you got a bad speaker. If you take the speaker that works good and put it on the passenger side and it sounds good your head unit is ok as far as outputs. It could also be shorting are/have you blown any fuses ?
