While cruisin' in the ride earlier.. the car just randomly shut off. It didn't sputter, or anything, the motor simply shut off, almost as if you turned the key off, but I still had gauges, radio, etc. Without it showing any signs of running rough, (sputtering, hesitating, etc.) leads me to believe its electrically related.. anyone else had this problem? Key cylinder going bad? ignition going out?

Thanks all...

Could be the distributor or ignition key... Check the wires to the ignitor and the stator / reluctor air gap.

Also are you carbed or EFI?

Wouldn't be the timing belt if it randomly shuts off. This means it can be restarted. Check the things that A20A1 said including the main relay that powers the fuel injection system if you have FI.

yeah im thinking do the main relay re-solder do a search for it, that could be the cluprit
also does it happen to stop at any given time or is it complete random as far as you know?

Completely random from what I can tell.. the car did run for awhile though before it did it. (10-15 min. or so) I am carbed too BTW.

check main relay, i had it replaced when my car just wouldn't start. later on i had the problem again, so we replaced the ignition wire, fixed. it hasn't done that to me since. (knock on wood)
