i have to part out with my honda. lately it just gets on my nerves. take today for example tried installing my new diamond cut blue headlights ya all the screws are rusted so now getting the old ones out is turning into quite a task. i cant take it nemore every time i wanna do a mod or sumthing new i have to do 10 other things first just to get to it and now the paint is oxidizing and i got an estimate for 1500 to paint it. its turning into a pain in the ass. yes i love my car and its treated me well but i just have to move on well c though what happens!:pimp:

I know where you're coming from. An older car is usually more of a time commitment than a brand new one. I just like mine because it gives me very little trouble and when I do have to spend money on it I spend way less than car payments.

But, if you hate messing with cars (nothing wrong with that if that's your personality) an old car is not for you.

I understand the rust problem, too. My old car was eaten up with "automotive cancer" and I had the same problem when I tried to change out the headlights.

Hey, if you're going to go newer, at least get a newer Honda.

Peace.

I know how you feel. My first car was a 72 Pontiac Catalina. My parents bought it new when I was 7. I got it in 1980 with about 90,000 miles on it and drove it until 1990 when it had 212,000 miles on it. I did SO MUCH work on it while I had it I think it may have had my blood in the engine somewhere.

My best friend was over when I sold it for $800. He swears there were tears in my eyes while I watch the kid who bought it drive off. He drove it for a year with no trouble, sold it, and then the guy who bought it drove it out to California.

It really needed a lot of bodywork to fix the rusted out places and crappy paint job, but the interior was super clean and the engine ran great and burned no oil. Here is the list (or, what I can remember) of stuff I did to it.

Air horns
H4 halogen headlight conversion with headlight relay
4-row custom built radiator
4-BBL Pontiac manifold with Holley 4BBL conversion carb (came with a Rochester 2BBL)
7/8" rear stabilizer bar (did nt come with rear bar at all)
1 1/8" front stabilizer bar
Van shocks (gas) front and gas shocks (car) rear
New rear springs (to level ground clearance)
Custom upholstery (factory white vinyl to replace worn out original)
Rally gauge cluster (junkyard) replacing idiot light cluster.
Custom dual exhaust - No cats on a car this old
JVC stereo/cassette, five speakers
HEI 40,000 volt coil (did not come on GM cars until 1975)
8mm ignition wires
Polyurethane stabilizer bar bushings

Man, that's about all I remember. Why do we love our cars so much?

Man I'll never part with this little mofo. My boy has a 99 accord and we go rollin around and I dont feel any less than him.
I turned down a Free 95 LexusES300 for the 3G. I let my sister have it. I couldnt part with the Honda for some reason.

I've put too much into it.

Oh man, I couldn't imagine what kind of gas mileage that car got with a 4bbl Holley!! I had a '70 Catalina with the low compression/2bbl 400ci V8 and it typically got single digit MPG. It was indestructable though!! I got hit head on by a Ford Escort doing ~50MPH, and aside from the destroyed radiator the car was still completely driveable. I drove it to school like this for 2 weeks before I sold it, to a guy who put a new radiator in at my house and then drove it home 250 miles to south Jersey!!! It still ran flawlessly and had around 180,000 miles when I got rid of it.

It's the big green car in the background, in case anyone didn't know =)
