Just curious, please don't list the things, just a ruff idea on how much you think you've spent. I just added up my stuff and I was a little surprised.

$2200,....OUCH! I only paid $1250 to buy the car.:D

I've spent about $8000 CAD on the 86 Accord so that's about $6000 US on just mods. Doesn't include all the things I consider "maintenance". I'm so glad I do almost everything myself or I would have to pay some big $$ for labour on top of the $8K.

But I want to put rims on and lower it and the whole works so my car may end up being a money pit... hopefully :D

About $4000, on the outside. That includes the purchase of the junked 89 SEi that is it's donor car. All that for a $350 broke transmisson covered in dirt 244k mi 87 LXi.

.........and I'd do it again. :D

I was gonna say, that still doesn't add up to $20K guaynabo89, you do have some mods, but not $20K worth, lol. Just be honest you know.

tk89acc

Including the car I have probably spent close to 15 grand. If I had to pay for the paintjob it would be closer to 20.

Add on 3000 dollar paint job, 4000 stereo equipment and theres a whole bunch of other stuff in the interior, 500 dollar seats and having that redone. Theres so much misc stuff that thats what it adds up to without the price of the car. Remember I've had my car since 1993. I've had a long time to spend money on it. Now if I had only had it for about two years that amount would sound kind of funny.

And that still doesn't count all the suspension bushings and ball joints I bought brand new from the dealer. All the interior parts I bought brand new from the dealer.

So yes that amount is realistic. When I was really into my car I added everything up to 15 grand without the car and that was about 4 years ago and I've done some stuff since then.

Take the engine mods listed in the other thread:
pistons...................................400
piston rings............................180
rods........................................675
head job.................................1000
t.b...........................................250
camgear..................................160
flywheel..................................400
header....................................350
cataliti.....................................200
c.a.i w/bypass.........................200
undrdrive pulleys....................300
alum vave spring retainers.....120
exhaust...................................300
machining and balancing
the engine...............................850

Take all that up and its well over 5 grand. Thats only in the engine without suspension rims and such. And those figures don't even includ etax and all the damn shipping I had to pay to get all these parts at half reasonable prices.

I'm not trying to say my shits the best or that I got money coming out my ass but yes that is more than realistic figure. The question was put and I answered it honestly. If if you need proof I still have almost all my receipts if you would like me to add them up for you.

I don't know if your reply was meant in a bad way but I feel as if your calling me a liar. If that wasn't the case then sorry about the rant but, if you were calling me a liar I'll have the receipts handy for ya.

Sorry to everyone for getting off the topic of the thread:)

Under $700, but that's just a couple of radios, speakers, keyless entry and paint to bring the stock wheelcovers back to new! 100% stock, just like back in July '88. I'm not a modder, but I still enjoy kickin' a little ass with her 98 horses sometimes.

Shit im embarassed to post here actually, I read these exhuberrent amounts people spend...

So far i've spent :

$700 to get the car
$400 to reco the radiator
Over $100 doing minor interior work, including repainting, new pedals, neons, blue lights.
$350 on my head unit,

and that's it so far....$1550. Not much considering it's in Australian dollars so it's only about ummm $775 roughly US.

The most I intend to spend on this car will be around $4000
Which will include :

Full stereo System $1800
Rims $1600
Lowering $500
Tinting $200
Interior Work $200

The the beauty is, my resale value should still be around $5k by next year ! Hopefully, as Im planning to get a 1992 Honda Legend Coupe by some point next year. Which are currently around $20k....that's all if my job goes well, but on the top of that, Im planning to have enough next year to get a loan to purchase my first investment property :) Im serious.

For the figures ive seen people mention here, in Australian dollars is just...BIG money! $15k = $30k, for that kinda of money I could get a couple of turbo'd soupd up cars, umm enough to get a $300,000 loan and buy myself a nice house, or a couple of investment properties and live comfortably. Take my advice children, invest into property down here.....it's booming at the moment. Especially around the coast.
