Hey jigga, do you do that by hand or with a filter in photoshop or something? I'd be interested (as well as other people) in having one of my car done. If you're willing to do a couple for other people, let me know.

jigga89SEi

I did it free hand here's how though... There's quite a few different ways....

jigga89SEi: Photoshop CS! It is simply the best program to manipulate static pixels. For dynamic pixels (yes, movies) - Adobe Premiere.

EDIT: Thanks for the compliment; there is alot of effort put into that drawing.

I don't know how to use the pen tool... I use a combination of the pencil... and the line tool and merging layers...

Photoshop is extremely hard to use if you've never used it before, took me months to learn it; just played around with it, read some guides, and suddenly one day "I got it" and could use it well.

The pentool works like this:
1. Select the pentool
2. Make sure the top-left toolbar says "PATHS", and NOT "Shape layers" or "Fill pixels"
3. Make an achorpoint by clicking on the image with the pentool
4. Make another anchorpoint by clicking another place in the image
5. You now have a "Path" that you can modify by clicking on the pentool-button AND HOLDING IT, another menu appears, select "Convert Point Tool" (has the shape of an arrow)
6. Use the Covert Point Tool to click on one of the two anchorpoints you have made
7. Drag the anchorpoint, watch how it changes the line you have made between the two anchorpoints
8. Right-click on the path when the shape is right, select "Stroke Path"
9. Stroke it with the Brush, with approx. 1-2 pixels wide
10. Press "Enter" to remove the path you have made
11. Now you are left with the line/curve you have made

There is also the option to create multiple paths, this is how you do it
1. Make a path to your liking with the Pentool
2. Select the Convert Anchor Point tool and deselect the path you have made by clicking on the image, not on the path you have made
3. Use the Pentool again to make another path, this is totally independent from the first path you made.
4. When you stroke the new path, the old one is also stroked, unless you specifically choose "Stroke SUBPATH" when right-clicking on the path with either the Pentool, Convert Point tool, Direct Selection tool (white arrow) or the Path Selection tool (black arrow).

EDIT: jigga89SEi: Why don't you resize the image you animate, before you start working on it? A bigger image is always better, just look at the M3 i drew earlier...

HostileJava: I'll do it! Just give me the time I need "getting around to do it". We're looking at some hours work, but the product in the end is worth all the labour one puts into it.

I thought that "Japanimated" car was so coo I gave it a shot myself, you'll have to go to http://www.cardomain.com/memberpage/396598 to see it, not as nice as Jigga's though. I don't have a program that uses layers, if I made a mistake it pretty much became permanent.

The front end turned out pretty crappy and the wheels are a bit weak but I don't think it's too bad otherwise. I left the bodyside mouldings off on purpose, I'm thinking of trying to shave them.

You make a new layer *below* the outline-layer for the basecolor. Over the basecolor-layer, but below the outline you make a layer for shadows, and one for highlights.

I draw the shadows/highlights with the pentool, right-clicking and selecting "fill path". But if it a really complex/small area i have to shadow/highlight i usually draw it directly with the Brush.

Sorry yall... It's been a while since I checked this post....

Here's how to do the baxe and highlights and stuff....
1. Select the areas you want to "highlighted" w/ pen tool or mask&Eraser
2. Make a new layer
3. On the new layer use filler bucket to lay color
4. Repeat as necessary for each different shade

Hope that helps...

I have new pics to show... I'll add them later...
