Well I finally decided, incase no one noticed, that the bastard hatch is back in my good graces and I'm going to be keeping it. So on that note I figured with the drop and all new wheels and tires were in order. ADR Sokudo Series Gun Metal Tuner Wheels w/ 205/40/R17 Ventus HR II's (not my first choice but they'll work for now)
http://www.trixracing.com/motor/pictures/sokudogunmetal1.jpg http://www.trixracing.com/motor/pictures/sokudogunmetal4.jpg

They are a VERY light gunmetal. The original thought was to go with silver but since the plan is to eventually paint it Civic si Blue I thought these would work for both the color now and the color down the road.

Heres the difference between the Silver, the light gunmetal, and the gunblack

Hey can someone chop these onto a pic of my car so I get an idea of how they'll look????????? If you need a smaller pic of them I can round one up for ya

the package deal ran me 700 shipped. Thats wheels, tires, mounted, balanced and everything.

Caleb I wanted something kinda different, but didn't want to spend 1300 just on rims alone to get the SSR's I wanted. I will still get them but just not right now.

Plan for the car is finding a red donor hatch and completely swapping the black interior over (complete dash. all the trim panels, headliner, carpet, basically everything) minus the front seats which will be Corbeau's and I'll have the back seats reupholstered to match. Then a nice deep civic si blue probably about this time next year.

I don't have drums, did the se-i swap a few weeks ago and we used all new prts as far as calipers, rotors, pads, hoses and misc BS. The fronts are all new as well, except the calipers but I may see about getting a good cleaner in there or some acid based etch to get the looking like new.

Caleb what am I going to do with your hubcaps????? By the time we both paid to have em shipped back and forth you probably could have picked some up from ebay or a local hubcap place. Mine aren't near as clean as they look in the pics, one of them is quite rashed

Yea I've been a fan of those wheels esp the gunmetal. Thats a pretty good price too, I paid 720 form my wheels and tires shipped but I could only get crappy Kumho 711's

Vinny, did you ever notice how your front wheels doesn't seem to be in the center of the wheels well? Maybe it was just the angle of the pic though...

i have adr sokudo 8's in gold with a polished lip on my 88 sedan. running, 205-40/R17. only thing i don't like is the low profile, yeah, it looks nice, but with all my parallel parking with such low rubber, i got curb rash.

Those rims are pretty nice... I am considering getting some rims that are pretty similar to them, but in black... Although my first choice is the RH evolution C2, but they are mad cash.

Can't wait to get some 17's.

For some reason my wheels aren't centered, who knows why. I don't worry about it since it doesn't cause me any problems. I don't know if its the drop or what but it is something I just recently noticed

if you look at side profiles of almost any 3g its like that. i've always noticed that, but i cant figure out why they're like that.

exhibit A:

then of course, theres exhibit B which shows them centered. . . . . weird.

Is the suspension designed so that the wheel moves towards the rear when lowered? All the stock height cars are centered.

Vinny
03-31-2004, 05:52 PM
thats a good question and I wish I had a definite answer. All I know is that in order to get the wheels centered in the wheel wells not it takes 3-5 degrees of caster. I'm going to be replacing both lower control arms, both radius rod arms, both upper control arms, and both knuckles this week or weekend just to see what happens. I have a feeling I may be a lil tweaked at the lower control arms.

Oh and caleb, you kinda lost me ther, especially since exhibit A is a :redx:

Thanks to X-Lr8 for chopping the wheels onto my car. Thanks alot. Hopefully I'll have the real deal posted next week, wed or so

Vinny, do you have JDM corners? Hmm.....

Anyway, just a little advice about the conversion from the Phoenix Red 88 DX Hatchback interior, be careful. Don't forget you have an LX-i, so all your window controls are built into the armrest, and the lower pocket compartment is longer on the LX-i's, where the DX's don't have any of the window controls on the armrest. So, you'll need some custom switches setup somewhere. Might I suggest taking the switches from an E36 BMW, as they have console mounted switches that will flow great with the 3G interior.
