Mine's completely stock and I've had it up to 100 mph, took me awhile to get there but I got there.

The DX would be carburated not FI, the carb models put out 98hp, the EFI model put out about 120hp.

Your carb needs a tune up, and check your fuel filters.

mine won't chip out. it will just stay at about 88 mph unless i am going down hill then it will reach a little higher. after your replies i think my mufflurs my be cloged or something. i am getting new mufflurs next month. then i can really see it. but mine gets to 88 pretty quick. at the most 15 -20 secs to get to 88 (never clocked) and she gets of the line very quick it might be the previous owner did something to the trans. i figure it out thanks.
oh yeah i still beat a maxima. :rice:

88 MPH
Are you sure you don't have a DeLorian?

Sounds like its tuneup time. I bet I could find two dozen things under the hood that need to be addressed.

muffler usually won't clog, it's the cat that clogs... also are you manual or automatic?

The previous owner claims he saw the speedometer at 230 km/h (142,6 mph). Don't know if it's true, but the Accord is quick-ish.

I was thinking about this thread on my way home from work today so I stomped on it, I was heading up a slight incline and I couldn't get it about 90 mph, I was mildly dissappointed. Mine is an auto/carb. I want to try the no vacuum mod but I heard you have to retune the carb afterwoords and that makes me a little bit nervous.

hmmm both lx-i and lx went 130+, when stock, . . . . .but as usaual the lx-i got up there faster than the lx did.

You shouldn't have to retune the carb after the vacuum removal, just readjust the idle.

Any 3g made should be able to easily exceed 90mph if running properly.

This is irrelevant but my 89 Lx-i went 120+ with hardly any effort...save when I was going uphill...lol. Carb tune up and more than likely an overall tune up are in order. Have someone run engine diagnostics. Small things CAN cause large problems. Good to have mechanic friends, always remember them!

I recently changed over from a K&N Air Filter to a paper filter from 'Crappy Tire' and I've been using regular grade gas instead of premium...do you think it would make that much of a difference?
