Anybody done this? Power door locks on a hatchback? :dunno:

Talk about BS. No power locks on coupes and hatchbacks. You would have to modify the sedan system or just get keyless entry installed.

I did it on my coupe its pretty easy if you have an alarm. You will need two actuators (got mine on ebay for less than $30 maybe even $20) and you can get two relays from Radio Shack. It was one of the best things i did to my coupe and think its well worth the time and little money.

I will put up a picture later when im home on how to mount the actuator. But most alarms show how to connect aftermarket relays to work the power door locks but basically you will need to install the actuators and run 2 wires to each door to where ever you alarm is located then do the proper connections. I can also post the connections on the relays but you will have to know the alarm output/input wires to connect the 4th pins on the relays. Its rather easy i found the hardest part was running the wire since it was a pain to get it in the factory wiring loom from the body of the car to the door.

You have to get the actuator in a certain place to get the door panel to fit properly.

Rob, so what is a complete list to get the power locks in.....no alarm system....just the power locks.......

Well if you want to go the route I did, buy a Bulldog Security remote start off ebay (I spent like $20), a pair of actuators, and two relays (the kind with 5 prongs). Of course you'll need wire and connectors. Rob put them in pretty much identical to how/where I did. The only thing to make sure of is that the bar that goes from the actuator connecting to the lock (in the handle, not the lock itself, though that might work, but it'd be a bitch to get to it) is parallel where they connect. Otherwise it won't work very well.

BUT IT'S PRETTY EASY TO DO? HOW MUCH WOULD IT COST ME TOTAL? I'm smart enough to do it, just low on fundage.

Well it should be very cheap here this may help

$15 for the actuators, the relays will probably run $10-$15 Radio shack has them i believe they only carry the 30amp 4 prong which is what you want. Then you will need enough wire to run 2 from eash door to the alarm or keyless entry unit with 8 spade connectors (can get this from pepboys for under $5 probably) then you will need to find the keyless entry unit if you dont have an alarm.

$52 so your looking at around $87 but you can get off cheaper if you find a cheaper keyless entry unit or just spend the extra money and get a alarm.

Relatively easy to install... only real pain in the a$$ is routing the wires.

Do you guys need the actuaters off of sedans... because i got a junkyard here that is pretty rich on 3rd gens, especially sedans... if im not mistaken, you could get like 4 off of each car with power locks... and with 3 or 4 cars, you could have enough for 6-8 people... just a thought tho

Not an se-i. That is SICK! Do tell the secret. Is that a 4G Accord door handle? I would LOVE power door locks on my coupe. IMO, that is the only thing missing because I have a nice, functioning moonroof. Tell us already.

aftermarket door actuators and lock relay. I used dei stuff but it doesnt matter what brand.

I then bought the 4dr door handle and cover . I cut the button part of the handle off and used it on front of the two door handle thn I fiberglassed the hatch door lock cover to the 4dr lock cover to make em one.

4dr actuators wont work on 2 drs cause the 4drs lock up and dowm and the 2drs lock side to seide.

So is it a 3rd or 4th gen. 4 door lock cover? I know the dealio about the locking mechanism differences in the 2 and 4 doors. Could you explain the bolded part; I'm not sure I understand. Man, it looks clean as all get out. NICE.

Its the third gen 4dr one.
basicly its the third gen two door handle with parts added off the 4 dr handle and lock cover. fiberglassing the two covers together and using the power lock switch off the 4dr handle.

You wouldnt want the 4th gen ones theyre totally different and always crack down the middle.

Okay, that's cool. You did a killer fiberglassing/plastic paint job to make the new inside lock/handle look seamless! We're just talking the interior door handle/lock situation, right? NOTHING about the door lock/handle on the OUTSIDE needs changed (just what you snapped pics of)?
So what I need to do is score a set of front maroon (preferably) door handles and locks switches (driver and passenger). Paint the two trim pieces that became one maroon after fiberglasssing. Then, get any aftermarket door actuator setup and wire it up. That sounds so killer right now...
