At 10,000 miles, the Maint Req'd light comes on. The manual says to get a maintenance check with the dealer. How do I avoid going to the dealer? How do I shot it off. It's on my 2003 Accord LX.

Confirm the code that it is throwing or take it to autozone so they can do it for free.

Oh yeah, I forgot about the proprietary ECUs.

No no no... my dad has an 03 TL-S, and as far as I know its the same on the accord's.

All you have to do is hold these 2 buttons down on the dash at the same time and it goes away... i just have to find out which buttons they are.. i think they are for like the trip meter and such in the gauges.

The sounds like a question for the owners manual.

I believe you hold down the trip odometer button while turning the ignition key on as far as it goes before you began to start the car. Hold the button in for about 10-15 seconds and the maintenance light should go out.

Yeah, it says in the owners manual how to turn it off. All the light does is remind you to change your oil and other such things.

I just tried it. I held down the odometer button before starting the car. I continued to hold it down until the light went off. I wonder why they don't tell that to you in the owner's manual?

It is in the owner's manual. Just look in the back under MAINTAINENCE LIGHT and it walks you right through the procedure.

I work for a Honda dealer and we go through this every day with customers.
