The car was a gift so I figured I"d spend the $1000 I had saved up on fixing up the car itself

what do you want from it? more power? better looks?

Help it breathe (intake, exhaust, header) and lowering it is a good start.

Like the other guys have said, do intake, exhaust, header, cam and msd ignition, youll notice a difference after all that... then if you can afford it lower it and do a few other little things...

Well, if you ever wanted handling, suspension would be a good idea! A set of revalved Bilstiens with coilovers for some fun as well as performance in turns. Perhaps get some bigger tires to handle better too if you have money left. :)

Other choice is to save up! I suggest you save up. Doing intake, header, exhaust cost alot of money and it doesnt get you a lot of hp difference for what it is. If you save up more and just keep your SEi in prestine condition, you can probably get a turbo kit from sean and be more happy! :)

Pacesetter header, cheap Ebay intake for a Civic, and get some redneck to string up a cheap catback exhaust using a muffler meant for something bigger, like a SUV or something.

Good cheap performance. Keep it to that, and save the rest for a turbo assembly. http://www.accordcentral.com when you are ready, we are ready.

I would do a good rebuild, make sure everything is perfect. If you do it yourself you *may* have some left over for some small things. But in the future youll be working off of a perfect motor when you decide to do something major.

Most websites that I have visited that sell performance parts only sell parts for 4th generation Accords and on, do you guys know any major companies that sell parts for 3g's? Or should i just go to Ebay?

Yea I would start with the basic I/H/E.
Well I just spent about 1000 just this month, this is what I got.....
Front and Rear AEM big brakes and AEM pads- $500
custom cam gear- $110
Detla camshaft- $60
NX wet kit- $400
about $150 in small parts/tools and stuff I needed
so about $1320 total
Still I have many projects I'm currently working on also. :D

$1k does not go very far. Is your car already lowered? If not, look into a set of good springs/shocks and camber kit... That will probably run you around $1k...

It will probably feel like crap without good tires.

Whatever you do, DON'T LET THE SE-I GET RUSTY !!!.

Whenever I see a rusty SE-i I just want to cry.

Note: I want to cry every time I see my car.
