ok well i was looking at some new cars they got in at the junk yard last week. and only now did i realize what i had found. its a del sol, not sure on the year, probley a '95. well it was wrecked, but the engine and transmission are good. its the 1.6 VTEC. so im not sure if thats the 125 hp or the 160 hp. since i'll be going over there soon, i think i'll ask them how much they would want for it. its a fairly small engine, and would go great in the old 3gee. i'd see if i can snatch that up for about $600. maybe less, but i'll have to see. they may not know what they have. this sound like a good engine to swap in. it has the 5 speed. i'd like to talk to this shop i go to and see what they have to say about it. they've done most of the engine swaps here in town, so they know what they're doing. i probley wont get the engine, but i surely dont want to pass it up without checking it out first.

ah, it must be the 125 hp engine. its a single cam, the 160 hp was DOHC.

Except the ones that had the B16 in them. :)

so this dosent sound like a good swap. should i keep looking for a good 140 hp B18 integra motor? those are easy to find. the 90-93 engines. those are popular i guess. i've found about 4 of those around.

No the swap you would want is the B16A that is OBD-0 not the newer B16's. The B16A will be a little more then the B18B but it will give you a much better platform.

then 88-89 and 90-93 integra engines are what im going to be able to find really easy. about $300-$400 for engine and tranny. i'd like to go cheaper so to spend the money on rebuilding and installing. the 2nd and 3rd gen prelude engines are pretty easy to find also. carbed and fi. same prices. im not even going to think about the D series engines. those aparently suck, considering you get more front most of the B series. anyway, this is just stuff to think about.

If you don't want D series, get 88-89 Integra out of your mind. They have the D16A1 or some call it the ZC. 112 hp isn't worth it. No one makes mounts for those either unless they're the same as the B. The B18A out of 90-91 Integra should work out pretty good. 92-93 is OBD 1 so stick with 90-91. You'll have far less headaches.

I thought they went 92-95 cuz that was the generation of Civics they were based on. If you look at all of the Honda car generations you should see what I mean.
Accord: 84-85, 86-89, 90-93, 94-97, 98-02, 03-UP
Prelude: 84-87, 88-91, 92-95, 96-01
Civic: 84-87, 88-91, 92-95, 96-00, 01-UP (I could be wrong on the last gen; either 01-up or 02 up cant remember off the top of my head)
CRX: 84-87, 88-91
Del Sol: 92-95

Also, anyone know why the Prelude got cancelled after 01?

Nope, the Del Sol was 94-97. They stopped making the Prelude because they weren't selling enough and the car was no longer making Honda a profit.

Sorry Del Sol did not run the same gen as the 92-95 Civic.... if you can find me a 92 del sol i'd buy it for you......... del sol ran 94-97......same as the 5Gen Accord.

But isnt the Del sol based on the Civic body and chassis? I guess the same question could be asked though about Prelude/Civic generation similarities. If the Prelude was built on the Accord, why is it on the same generation years as the Civic?

yes the Del Sol was based on the 92-95 civic body. I can' awnser the other question though, I'm not a Honda engineer.....
