Freakin PCV Valve wont come out!!!

I have tried reading some of the pcv valve search results, but I need to find out some other info. I pulled the hose off of the valve and this black plastic ring slid right off and fell to the ground. I tried to pull out the valve and nothing....So I grabbed some pliers and pulled with everything I had and nothing....I grabbed some better pliers and tried to pry it out and still nothing!!!! I was blue in the face trying to get this thing out!!! I pulled for like 30 mins at his damn thing :mad: ......I sprayed some carb cleaner on it and waited and then tried again and still nothing.
I even tried twisting it out, no good...What am I doing wrong? :help:

Are you pulling on the right side? The driver side of the hose connects to a large nipple which is not removable. The valve is on the passenger side. It should come out with moderate effort. Spray WD-40 on the valve. Pull straight up. When I changed my valve, I left the hose on the valve and took off the driver side end. That way I had a bit of cushioning when I gripped the valve and there was less chance of breaking it off in the hole. What ring fell off? I don't remember seeing any ring on my valve or in the area around it.

i had same problem... i kept pulling and pulling , i even got my self under the hood with both feet on the engine, i almost gave up but i kept turning it side ways and upwards till it came out... i messed up the ring a little but i got it out

Yeah I am pulling on the right side. I am gonna try some WD-40. The ring was around the hole where the pcv valve goes on the manifold. I dont know if that has anything to do with it not coming out but it does not seem like it is going anywhere soon.
I guess tomorrow I will try harder, I have never had this much trouble with a pcv valve...
