hole on top of tranny??? (auto)

When I took off my intake tubing that goes to the right fender, I noticed that there is an open hole that looks like it's going into the transmission. I looked on hondaautomotiveparts.com and found that on the right side tranny cover there's supposed to be a breather cap, is that what I need? Will it mess up the transmission if I don't have one?

I've noticed that hole on my tranny too. Any insight to this would be helpful...

It is for a different type of dipstick, I remember seeing it on my auto when it was in my car, I looked in the manual, and sure enough....

There's supposed to be a small rubber cap that goes on it. I just checked on mine.

I have two words: weight reduction.

my engine bay is messy and I'm afraid that dirt, grime, and engine oil are entering the transmission... well, mostly dirt. It may not matter, but I think I'd feel better with one on there.

I have a feeling they come out missing when the car goes to the mechanic.

All in all, not a big deal, I'd just feel better with it on there.

i had made a thread about the same thing a few months back. i couldnt figure out what that was until the other memebers told me. i think its worth replacing. i'd like to be sure as little moisture gets in there as possible. i was going to look for that on another 3gee at the junk yard. i may go today.
