this is what im thinking of doin. running some piping down to the front bumper from the TB. i would have it so a cone filter would be positioned side ways right behind the hole where the stock foglights go. and when it would rain, i could pop the hole cover in, and it would prevent water from getting in there. i figure it would kind of give the air a forced pressure, adding a little power and coolness. the opnly prob i can think of is rocks getting kicked up and damaging the filter, or if i hit a puddle or somethin. what do u think of this idea? any other probs? is it worth it?

i thought they usually pointed down and sucked in that air, and i figured this would give the air a little more speed and pressure

You're talking about the open ended filters... some people connect a tube from the front of the filter, the filter being located where the battery is, and run the tube down to the hole, that way some air is forced in and the rest of the air is from the engine bay. look for a soop or a funnel and even make the hole bigger if you have to. I bet you could rig somehting up with a 3" pipe and fiberglass.

i think he was looking at something like that http://arospeed.com/product_info.php?cPath=22_37_39&products_id=82
the problem with this setup is that there too many bends and it will start restrict the air flow. it is better than stock air box but it not even close to AEM true CAI.

That front mount would be cool to add under a hood scoop. less bends that way too.

That would be pretty close to what the WRX's have then Mike. It would look really cool too.

I think the filter would need to be cleaned every 2 weeks from picking up so much dust from the road. I like the hood scoop idea best.

all right, do u think it would help to have the pipe split into 2 before it gets to the front, and then have 2 filters, one in each foglight hole? any power gain? or just a waste of time?
