I just bought an SEi, but the factory Bose system is not working so good. I am considering either repairing the factory stuff or replacing it all. If I replace it, I really want the steering wheel controls to work. Has anyone successfully used the PAC SWIX:

on their SEi? I want to make sure it will work before I start spending money.

They excluded Ferraries, which usually don't have any stereos. and some other ones, so nothing funny

i don't get it. how does it work?
do you still have to use your stock SEI buttons?
anyway, i would say just try to fix the problem first.
plus someone on this board connected SEI radio buttons to aftermarket radio.

Get yourself an after market HU with the steering wheel mount controls. I know some of them are not quite as sleek as the wheel mounted ones but it's allot less of a pain in the ass plus you would have a better HU and more power. Here is one that I have. I have been told by the guys at the car Audio shop I go to, that the SWI-X will work on my car. They said the main thing is with it being compatible with your aftermarket deck. And they said it would work just fine with my Alpine, there will just be a very short delay between pushing the button and anything acutallly happening, which is fine with me. I just need the money to get it now, cuz I hate not having the steering wheel controls.

My dad got one of those put in on his Oddessy. It took a long time for the shop to install it, and it doesn't work all that well. It may be because they couldn't find a good place to mount the sending eye, it may have worked better if the eye had been mounted in a better place, but my dad was unsatisfied nonetheless.

Check the application guide. It shouuld work with the SEi without any problems.

We've done a few of them at work. They work quite well if the infrared eye is placed correctly. The head unit that you want to use must come with a wireless remote or have that ability.

Also factory wheel controls would not be modified in any way.
