Congrats on the engine! Lights look okay, for altezzas. They need work though around the edges, primarily on the sides where the 3g lights have more of an angle (hard to explain). Nice work in progress though.

sweet motor swap! it looks nice and clean..... the tails don't look too bad as long as you get a different paint scheme.......

i think they would look good if the car was a dark color like a black or purple

Just curious as to why you chose a B16A3 and it looks like you have custom mounts?

Good job on the lights so far, there not finish yet right? And they would look killer if you took the housing off and painted the chrome to match the body color then.

Isn't there alot of crap yo uhave to modify to get a b16 or b18 to fit right? I heard it ends up costing more then just making a stock a20 just as fast. Oh well, I will just do a search on it. Looks good so far. I don't like the taillights, especially because the lines where the 90-93 trunk lid closes doesn't line up with the 3g lines. Looks good though, nice start. I wouldn't wanna race you :D, lol.

Looks nice. Could you fill in the gaps in the tail lights with fiberglass ? If I was to ever do that much work to put a motor in my 3g I would drop a V6 in.

lilhonda17
04-20-2004, 02:04 PM
yea the tailights arent done yet i'm still fitting them in, i still have to fill in the gap. ughh what other tails would look good than? as for the engine i used the A3 for 1 i got it for $900 bucks 2 I like OBDI Better, i did do the hydro conversion. i am getting ready to wire up a 99 civic Si Gauge Cluster... i had a 97 Type R integra Gauge Cluster but some fcker stole it so im settling for the civic.... the haedlights are gonna be swaped out with 97 Prelude Headlights

How much did the swap run you when it was done? You could have gotten the axles and mounts along with shift linkage from Place Racing. Probably would have been cheaper.

the engine ran $900 with the ecu. since i did all the work myself the swap only cost $900 bucks... i used the accord axels and i just had to cut down and weld the passanger side axel. the shift linkage is the accord stock just cut down, the motor mounts are my creation. the wiring harness i had to make both engine and cab harnesses.

That's cool that you were able to do that stuff yourself. You definitely saved a bunch of money. I would just be concerned about the strength of the axles if they're cut and welded. Otherwise, good job on the engine. I don't like the tails or the color but it's your car so if you like it, cool.

Did you have the axle balanced afterwards? It does not take many grams to create insane vibration. Was the axle solid straight trough, or hollow?

lilhonda17
04-22-2004, 10:40 AM
the axel is hollow straight through and hes it is balanced and tested for insane horsepower

nice job, the tails are horrible, the stock ones are fine.
Also what were you thinking when you painted it that color. :barf:

Yeah at first I thought the color was white but when I found out that yellow tint was actually the cover I kinda took a step back. Congrats on the swap and I like the tails although I'm not a big altezza fan (neither are most of the members of this board). I would have picked a different paint scheme but that's just me. Perhaps you should get a spoon yellow valve cover instead of the red one. That might help with the overall look. Congrats again on doing everything yourself. Especially on the axles. That takes some stones to pull off right.

How the hell did you do the wiring for this? How hard was it? That is the only thing that intimidates me about a swap.

Engine looks good. I like the taillights except the fact that they don't flow with the car on the side. If you filled in that missing space they would look better. good job though

Nice engine... I'll race ya when I get my axle fixed... You'll probably beat me... since I haven't been taught how to drive my 5 speed yet... lol

Not too much on the color... but ya like what ya like... :D

And where did you get those lights?... I love them... (Probably about the only person here who thinks so).. lol

BTW... I have been looking for some euros.. If I bought some 90-93 euros, would it fit in my 87 4door?... Or would I have to bondo/cut anything?.. Bondo is no problem.. but the cutting makes me kind of weary since I have never done it before... Thanks
