hey guys I'm getting rid of the Honda cuz it's more trouble than it's worth to me.

I may be getting a 1991 Mecruy Capri 5spd, Convertable, 1.6L turbo, white. Now I've never heard of this car.. it pretty much looks like a combination of an old MR-2 and a Miata. However, even thought it's a "ford" it still looks to me like the drivetrain and all engine components are very Japanese... possibly Mazda or Mitsubishi...

Granted this is the 3Geez forum you guys have always been good at helping me with non-3geez cars... could ya lemme know anything on this car? Thanks!

it is an awesome engine and tranny and an awesome car!! by the way its XR-2...its a Mazda engine and drivetrain. Very nice setup, that responds well to mods.

P.S. It fits perfect in a Festiva a 1200 lb vehicle with a 170 hp engine, you do the math.

yeah, i was just looking up more stuff myself. I found out that it's got the same motor as the 88-89 Mazda 323. The turbo is a Garrett T25... basically the same as a Mitsubishi Eclipse GST/X. It's basically just a DOHC, 16 valve, 1.6L inline four...
The only thing wrong with the one im getting is that the turbo's blown.. But i plan to re-rout the turbo and install a new intercooler and a turbo timer. The only reason i think this turbo's blown is because they didnt come with a stock turbo timer... so whenever the engine was shut off all that oil in the bearings would just cook in there on the hot exhaust turbine. So I'm planning on getting a new Garrett T25 with an internal wastegate, an HKS 1.5' by 10" intercooler, new piping, Blitz blow off valve, and a GReddy turbo timer. I'm thinking it'll be pushing around 200hp when I'm done with all the mods I plan for, including upgraded ignition and fuel systems. Alright, peace! Thanks again!

you say the 3g is a headache...and you plan on going to a boosted car...with a blown turbo...

if thats what youve decided on..good luck

well, the only reason the accord's a headache is because it's the 2nd Automatic transmission i've put in it... and it's like everything's going at once on the thing... plus there are little to no aftermarket for the 3-g.. sorry im not as creative as most people, nor do i have a lot of money or time to spend fabbing up my own mods... the Capri allows for a greater aftermarket and it's the kind of setup i've always wanted... FWD, Turbo, DOHC, 5spd, Convertable... all for under a grand... and putting 1500 bucks into a car i'm getting for 800 with more than 2/3ds it's life left.. than thats smarter than dicking around with a car worth 400 bucks that takes 350-2500 bucks a pop to fix everytime something goes wrong with it. Sorry to snap at ya.. but im just saying.. i've had my time with the 3-G.. the time was well spent while it lasted.. and it's time for me to move on.

I'm pretty sure those Capri's were aussie-built. My manager at my last job had one but hers was an N/A auto. I never knew they had 5 spd. turbos, I'd imagine it would be fun with that drivetrain. Very very small cars, and roadsters are badass no matter how you look at it. It would look real nice kitted.

I'm pretty sure I'm getting this kit..

But I'd also paint it a dark hunter green with a candy finish. Definatly more sexy than that 80's silver paint job.
I'd also get this GReddy turbo timer...

I think I've got my work cut out for me. But it'll be bad ass when it's done.

I have personally seen this swap in a 90 Blue Festiva it fits like a gem, also the turbo MAzda 323 Engine fits in there very comfortably.

Actually come to think of it I think it's the same 1.6L turbo that is in the 323 GT of the early 90's. Anyone know this for sure?

yes, the 323 gt is the same engine as the xr-2....the 323 has the same 1.6l but its n/a too. The stock festiva tranny bolts right up to the b6t(xr-2 323gt engine). not very strong but its nice that everything bolts right up, but yeah everything bolts right up with the exception of one motor mount that has to be flipped upside down and welded in differently. check out www.fordfestiva.com and www.cwstuning.com
Chris Waugh is the god of the festiva b6-t swap his car was awesome...check his engine out for some ideas for your xr-2.

wow, awesome! thanks a lot! If I liked how the Festiva looked and I wasnt so bent on getting a convertable I'd actually consider that mod. But witht the current plans I have, adding a little weight reduction and that awesome exhaust idea he has I'm thinking the car will still be pretty quick. Now I just have to see if my dad's willing to help me make that downpipe... cuz yeah, WOW.. that is one hott piece. I cant wait to see the finished product.

yeah I almost bought a capri XR-2 5 spd. but the day after I saw it the dealer had sold it. SO i guess it wasnt ment to be...
Good luck with everything and that car is defiently something that you could easily make into a crazy sleeper.

Any one know what kind of Turbo the B6T motor (B6-DET Capri XR-2/ Mazda 323 motor) came with? :sad2: :help:

I know of an even better to put in a Festiva (read the signature and take a guess) they made like 5-6 of them, called SHOguns, ungodly fast and corners like its on rails!

Actually, I think it may be an iHi RHB5... mostly comprable to a Garrett T25... The RHB5 supports about 10psi of boost but can run up to 15psi... This gives the motor awesome midrange and highend power. I'm gonna go and talk to the seller again today and hopefully I'll get it this weekend.
