it was an upshift, i beat him because he was grinding his gears but it was just a little strange. :confused: any other standard ive driven like a h22 swapped prelude i burn the tires upshifting to second.

probably fuel starvation... either from a vacuum leak or a loose booster venturi or cloged fuel filters or bad fuel pump. It also could be a weak ignition signal or bad ignition timing.
