I some how broke my dip stick housing thing today. It was slightly cracked at the base. Now its completly broken off. Does anyone know if this can be replaced or is it part of the block and would need to be rewelded on or something else similar. If it can just be swaped with a new one what kind would be the same dimensions to work on the b20a, i was thinking something like the acura integra 86-87, or the 88-91 preludes, might fit but i dont know? THANKS!!!

Im not 100% on this but i do think they are inteded to come out but the problem will be getting the broken piece out and then getting another one out w/o breaking it unless you get a new one.

thanks rob! do you know what kind of car i could get one of the housings off of? I was thinking something like the 88-91 preludes might have a similar dipstick and housing.

alright on the 88 prelude it looks like its changeble and is very similar to the b20a one i think this might work. http://www.hondaautomotiveparts.com/auto/jsp/mws/prddisplay.jsp?inputstate=5&catcgry1=Prelude&catcgry2=1988&catcgry3=2DR+2.0SI&catcgry4=KL5MT&catcgry5=CYLINDER+BLOCK-OIL+PAN its part 6

Either way you can make it work just change the oil and make sure the fill line is in its proper place. You might even be able to get the accord one to fit if you can get it out w/o breaking it.

Im not sure if you have a tap/die set but i myself would run a tap into it or i would take a small punch and try to wedge it between the block and the tube but you run the risk of damaging the block so the tap would be my first resort. You could also drill it out but then your going to have to get the shavings out of the pan which may not be easy because of the baffle. I know its a tight spot but you could also try to work it out with some channel locks or vice grips. Hope this helps!
