Well my car is carberuated. Is this alright mileage for someone who drives 2 miles to school and 2 miles home every day, with the occasional weekend cruising? I'm just making sure I'm in the ballpark and all with mileage.

Thats 20.58 miles per gallon. I think thats about right. :)

For the type of driving you do, just quick trips, that seems about right, especially if you're not driving super-conservatively.

I feel bad for you... considering I get about 400 miles to the same amount

What does it really matter if he drives it 10 minutes a day? Its gotta be stop and go non stop, plus warmup time.

I just went round trip to Atlanta and back. Approx 350 miles on about 10 gallons.

man, that is way too high. on my old car i used to get 350 with that kind of trips.
i live 2miles from college and about 30 miles from work.

Taking distance, traffic, and warmup time into account, the record MIK3 has is normal.

Vinny
04-28-2004, 06:26 AM
I don't think I'd call it normal. I get 29 MPG in the city stop and go light to light driving and 35 on the highway, well 32 if I go above 70. It seems low to me. Not unreasonably low but still low

my accord is ass for fuel economy. 11.5liters/100km. 400km/tank

my civic however gets 7.6liters/100km
i'm currently at 450km with half tank. but i drive right at speed limit and don't rev past 2.5k all city driving.

anybody wanna do the conversion to gallons?

Vinny

Damn foreigners :sadwave: J/K

You are getting about 248.548 Miles a tank and if you figure 7.6 liters/100km is about 2.00771 Gallons /62.1371 miles comes out to almost 30MPG. SO somethings either facked in my math or you aren't filling up when you are empty. At 30mpg you should get aproximately 390miles on a tank before the light comes on (around 3-4 gallons or so left in a 16 gallon tank)

Who knows I hate converting back and forth between US std and metric std, drives me up the friggin wall

before my whole exhaust snapped off i was getting 600-650km on a tank
now i get maybe 450 or 500

Sorry! I'm one of damn foreigners.
I'd like to confirm the definition of units. ( I'm always confused by)

1 gallon = 3.8 liters(USA), 4.5 liters(UK)
1 mile = ca. 1.6 km

Right?
And also, the engine displacement should be taken in considered.

In my case, the engine displacement is ca. 2 liters(B20A). my car goes 11.6 km/liter on the average. So this can be converted to 27.55 mile/gallone(USA), can not?

I submit the uniquely converted mileage(Mile/Gallon(USA)) which you all wrote in different unit on this thread.

bobafett; 27.30
Cyric_accord; 29.41 (=400/13.6)
kroy; 35.00 (=350/10.0)
shepherd79; ****
Vinny; 29.00 (in town), 35.00 (on HW)
Defiant[YD]; 29.41 (accord), 31.25 (civic)
me, hisayosi803; 27.55

What do you think of these values?
As you all know, the mileage chages depending on the condition how you drive. In case, on highway, the mileage will increase. Opositely, when you drive in heavy traffic jum, it will decrease. And in case, the short distance drive (even under enough warmup) it'll also decrease.

So, frankly speaking, the MIK3's mileage is not good. but taking into account the conditions he drives, I think it's in normal region.
In my case, the mean mileage is like above. but Max. one is 35.15 MPG on highway, Min. one is 21.85 MPG.
I guess if he drives long distance, the mileage will increase without any special technique. ;)

yeah so do i and i get at least 350-360 miles on a tank. I think under 25mpg you are using too much gas somewhere

I got 28.4 this morning. About half in town and half highway miles.

MIK3
04-28-2004, 03:55 PM
Yeah. I'm trying to find out where too... I might have to change my fuel filters possibly. But yeah, I don't drive my car hard, never shifting later than 3k. I just think it's the 6 lights I have to go through for the 2.5 miles I drive...that's 12 lights a day...

I've never gotten below 30mpg avg on a tank (when I actually calculate it).

MrBen

I dunno recently my mileage has been about 400 per tank if I take a 60 mile trip on the freeway. If I don't, it's about 380. Sometimes lower or higher depending on the gas.

i tend to get a little over 300 between fill ups. and thats driving mostly in town and a little on the highway.

On my last tank of gas I got 10.4L/100km or 22mpg with about 75% city driving.

Try replacing plugs and getting a new coil. Try changing the brand and getting a higher grade of gas too.

MIK3
04-28-2004, 09:20 PM
The plugs have been replaced, I'm trying to find NGK wires to match my V-powers. I'm running on like 10 year old wires right now...and I don't really want to change my brand due to I'm on a parents gas card, heh. I will try a different grade however, and see how that varies in milege. I'll have to check on when the last time the coil was replaced. Where is that and how much would it be to cost?

I've gone 400 miles on the tank i'm on. I expect to hit 450 or closer to 500 miles. It's carbed so I it might get more, but my car gets great highway miles. I usually expect 35-38 mpg when running on highway. BTW, the best gas that I've found is Chevron. Otherwise, I don't get as good of mileage. I also use 87 octane only. I have tried 89/90 a couple of times and haven't seen a difference.

Yeah I'm stalking you... Dont fuck me with me because I know where you live... ANd I wont fuck with because you also know where I live :ugh:

Yeah. I used 87 Octane grade Chevron as well. Hmm....I have to conclude that it must be my stop and go trips to school...that's my only assumption.

yeah the most i ever got was about 220, so there might be some real problems with my car, i mean i did drive it hard, but that all of a sudden seems real low, lol.

in parts of US "winter gas" means lower mpg.

ater the new summer gas comes in in end of march I go from 27 to 35 mpg. I drive 500 a week in average conditions...mostly highway, peppered with bouts of bumber to bumber stuff.

I think his gas mileage is normal for the driving conditions he has and b/c he has a carb. When I short trip drive I get about 20 to 21 mpg. Hwy mileage is about 30-40mpg depending on how far it is.

Bryan
