hey guys! i have a big problem with my 87 lx auto. it won't shift !!!
it started doing it in the winter and i decided to change the transmission , i got a used one, put it in and it's doing the same thing all over again. it goes into park , neutral , drive , everything but when i try to drive it stays in first unless i manually shift to 2 and then when i shift to d3 it still doesn't shift from second. did anyone have this problem or is it just my poor old 3g telling me it's time for a new car?

Maybe something is off with the linkage? Have you checked that?

Yea, when i got my auto Accord it did the same. Only 1st, 2nd and reverse would work. So I threw the damn auto tranny out the window and converted it to a 5 speed... But I would like to know too what could be wrong with the tranny.

hmmm...was the 3g and electronically controlled tranny? If so sounds like a computer failure. Get a new computer or Swap it to a 5-speed. Where's BITESIZE? He likes talking about his 5-speed swap.

did you check the fluid level after you drove the car around?
