Will a manual transmission out of a 1986-87 Accord w/EFI, will fit into a 1988 Accord EXI (LXI for the American Model)?

Yes.
At least according to the salvage yard I called today. They said 86 to 89 with EFI. I also know for fact that a manual trans. out of a carbed car 86 to 89, will also fit, they have different gears though. Also I have read somewhere in this forum that you can use a 2nd gen prelude trans.

All 86-89 Accord transmissions that mate to an A20A series engine are interchangable.

Transmission swaps are also possible from these cars:

84 - 87 Honda Prelude 2.0si

84 - 87 Honda Prelude Carbed

86 - 89 Acura Integra

The Prelude 2.0si transmission is a direct bolt-on and go application. The carbed version has a smaller bellhousing, and will require the use of the Prelude's flyhweel and clutch. With that, you also get the advantage of a lighter flywheel. However, you'll need to buy an aftermarket clutch that fits that application. More motor + Smaller clutch = Cooked OEM clutches.

The most difficult transmission swap is from the 86-89 Acura Integra. This requires swapping the bellhousing on the transmission for a bellhousing from an 86-89 Accord transmission. From what I've seen, that's a job. This will give an UNBELIEVABLY sporty ratio that's guaranteed to run you through tires quick.

Yes, everything should be compatible.

The tranny from the carb Prelude has different splines in the differential so it requires different half-shafts as well.
