Ok, my cat is shot... I need a new one.

I checked the Random technology one since it's a direct fit supposedly but I found them rather pricey!!!

I then checked the catco converters at summitracing but I found out that they do not list our application.

However, the random technology 86-89 Accord converter (part # 822005
) is listed to fit the following cars also:

822005:
Accord 86-89 2.0L
Accord EX 90-91 2.2L
Accord LX & DX 90-93 2.2L
Civic 82-83 1.3L&1.5L
Prelude 85-91 2.0L
Prelude 92-95 2.3L

The catco converter fits the following cars:
CTO-4172
Honda: 1988-91 Prelude, 1982-83 Civic, 1980-83 Accord, all with OEM 12 1/2 in. long converters, direct fit, catalytic converter

Then the CTO-4171 fots the following cars:
Honda: 1990-93 Accord, with OEM 13 in. long converter, direct fit, catalytic converter

So, my guess is that the Catco CTO-4172 would fit our cars wihtout any mod... plus it's bolt-on and fould flow better than a normal cat.

Can anyone confirm that?

I can give you another suggestion, since I see Evo Version direct fit Cats on Ebay for like $50 all the time for our cars....

you talking about this

Someone needs to buy one of these because I've been eyeballing them for a while. they used to list them as 2 1/2" 2 1/2 out, would be perfect to match up to a header

Yeah Vinny... I think I'll jump on one this summer when I replace my exhaust system, I'll let you know how it works

Yup, I've been consideringthose EVO cats too. The only problem I see with them is that they are more a "pipe" with the honeycomb stuff on the side rather than a real cat converter. One of my friends has those and it's exactly like that. You might have problems passing emission tests with the EVO cat. The Catco one looks like a normal high flow one....

I just want to know if the catco would fit.

I thought they did away with emissions testing in Quebec?

indeed, but I care about the planet (a bit) and I don't want to have a car that smells..... ok ok I'll just get the EVO one :) There is a visual inspection that might come in force soon tough... the Catco looks absolutely stock.

You may care about the planet...but obviously Quebec doesnt if they dont have emissions testing. Therefore it is your duty as a car enthusiast to take FULL advantage of this!! :) I wish CT got rid of their gay emissions testing and DB Level law. :thumbdown

We have a DB level law... well it's more arbitrary than anything.... if the exhaust is a straight through design... it's illegal. I have a stock SE-i exhaust now anyway... I got tired of the loud sound.

I'll probably try that EVO cat but DAMN. the guy selling those on Ebay charges 34.99 $ for the shipping to canada..... what a rib off. It will not cost half this to get it shipped...

yup that's how ebay does it. you can buy an item for 1 dollar buy it now but pay 50 for shippin. but yah, i want the evo cat too! hope it'll let me pass the test. i think in CA it's no higher than 95 db, but mine is already above that, i know. soo it doesn't matter anyways.

or is it! .95 or something.

A lot of aftermarket parts are claimed to not be street legal, it keeps the company out of hot water.

Well if Carrot doesn't get one in the next month or so I guess I will be the guniea pig. I need to do my exhaust but I need to get my strut bar and a few other things first
