I'm trying to make my car stop leaking oil because i have to add bout half a quart a week.

so i see oil on this little piece and i dunno what it is, so i can fix or most likely replace it. So what is this piece called, and why would it have oil on it?

I believe thats your EGR valve. Im not sure if that has a habit of leaking oil or not (but i think it does).

Do you know where its leaking from?? Does your motor burn oil at all (blue smoke from the tail pipe). There are a couple places that have a habit of leaking, mostly it comes from the distributor oil ring. Luckly, thats a pretty easy fix.

No, that's not the EGR valve. EGR valve is on the other side of the intake manifold.

It looks to be #23 in this picture. It says Air Control Valve B.

yeah its a solenoid... I have a hard time thinking that thatll let you lose a half quart a week... I say you should look underneath and see where youre leaking from

looks like it's leaking from above... do you see drips from the PCV filter?

just put a bottel of "Lucas Oil" in it and i bet it will stop leaking. helps out your car to if its got a lot of miles

yeah i think the egr is made out of metal.
it has the hoses on it like in that diagram, so i think it is that piece.
But i have the dist. o-ring leaking and the valve cover gasket leaking as well.

I think that valve controls the air flow into the other tube next to the EGR, that routes from the intake to the exhaust manifold (Air bypass or something). My guess is it allows extra air into the exhaust stream to help the catalytic converter completely combust(catalyze?) left over hydrocarbons. I would suspect the only way oil should get into it would be through the PVC system and into the intake. Do you have a lot of oil inside of your air cleaner?

Did you replace your PCV valve? you could have build up of pressure which is causing some minor leaks, other then that you could be burning oil somewhere... as I said earlier you should check the PCV filter.
