air intake???

hey guys,
i asked before about putting in an air intake in my 86 carb. but i still see a shit load of guys that have air intakes. im confused... i want to gain as much power as possible. some guys say you can't, other say you can... well, what can i do to get more power???

Buy a webber...

Nah, making an intake is good but some linkages surrounding the carb makes it a hassle to properly fit one in the engine...
The other problem is hood clearance.
