the braided thing is the flexpipe, those cylinder looking things are resonators... I had the Same problem man as far as the bolts go, I drove it to a muffler shop and they made me a 21/4 inch all the way back to the muffler for $110...

Looks like maybe we did need a How-to thread on how to gut a cat. :uh: :kekeke: Consider your situation a blessing in diguise. Here's (http://3geez.com/showthread.php?t=34095) a thread giving reasons for not gutting your cat, and it's quite ironic that your thread popped up right after it.

Whatever you do don't mess up that flex pipe it's stainless steel and very expensive to replace.

flex pipe like cools down exhaust heat doesn't it, i never know wat that hting is for. and dude just saw off the cat at the flex pipe all the way to the end of the resonator (the book calls it jsut an exhaust pipe, how stupid huh?) and weldon a long ass straight pipe. hahahahahah it'll be the loudest in the world!!!!!!!

isn't the flex pipe there so that you don't break open your exhaust on bumps and such? it lets the pipes flex so there isn't much tension.

The flex pipe that you guys are talking about, is to let the exhaust tubing bend freely with the engine movements. if you had a solid piece there, you will bend the piping over time, the flex pipe is there to prevent bends and kinks.
