View Full Version : Rear Brakes Problem

My rear brakes USED to be great... i used to barely lift the Ebrake and it will hold GOOD .... now its crappy ... i replaced the shoes but now its even worse..... any advice on how to fix that ??? .... :dunno:

Did you adjust the brakes after you changed the shoes? Also did you check the self adjusters? Make sure that the self adjusters aren't froze, they should turn easy.

ya i adjusted them ... .. i cleaned and greased the self adjusters pretty good ... but i have feeling that they're not "self adjusting" properly for some reason

ur wheel cylinders are not leaking or anything right? did u take the drum apart and see how the pads look also how is the drum itself? The tension spring is good too right?

the self adjuster will only work if you drive backwards and brake.

ooOOOOoo gotcha ... ill do more reversing and braking !!! heh .. im desperate .. ill try anything

Tighten the cables, under the consol behind the p-brake lever. Make sure both sides are working and that you don't have a seized cable. Haynes manaul will tell you exactly how to set them up properly. :werd:

i adjusted the Ebrake ... the little nut went all the way up .... ..... the Ebrake is strong but its not as strong as before
