what the hell is the #5 part on this diagram belong to??? I got it from the honda autpparts thingy and its for our 86-89 accords, but it shows a dual down into one, so our cars do have a 4-2-1 exhaust system but which ones??? is it the SE-I???

looks like the flex pipe to me. Kinda long compared to the one in the DC header, but shit stock ones are always weird.

86-89 carbs are 4-1 headers
86-87 efi are 4-1 header
88-89 efi are 4-2-1 headers

it does not matter if its, lx, dx, lxi or sei, just the motor matters.

not where the 5 points to, I mean the whole thing, look at the tip it has a dual inlet at the end.

No sir, it wont. its because the 88-89 efi headers dont have air suction hose tubing like ur carb one does. Unless u eliminate the air suction hose from ur carb, the header wont wrork.

I dont know where u were when there was threads about threads about ppl wanting to use the DC headers for their carb. the reason they could not use the DC is because of the issue stated above.

if you want 4-2-1 header, get pacessetter header. it has 4-2-1 design and it was designed for carbed or EFI motors.

I was just looking at all my old threads and realized that I forgot to ask this after I saw it before, but if I got a DC sports header and modified it to accept the carb inlet, will it work???

you can try and get it to work. I dont know how u would do that. but its increadibly hard to find a DC header now and i dont think it will be a good idea to modify that kidna expensive header. Just get a pacesetter, the ceramic coated one and u should be good to go.

Ok this is only a parts pic of the downtube with the flex hose and does not include the header portion. If your motor is the carb model it can only take the 1 inlet downtube. The 2-1 will not fit on your car if it is carbed. The header is only 4-1 and does not have a split. I just did the exhaust on my car not too long ago and I ordered the middle pipe with flex hose because I have a carbed engine.

good idea trying to modify the dc header, i just got through with my new install of my pacesetter header......let me tell you one thing, pacesetter makes CRAP, the ports were SOOO poorly matched, they were crooked, the whole thing was welded really poorly, i wish i'd have saved up and gotten the dc sports ones. i say bravo on the mod bro!!!
