Hey I've heard some people have tried to modify a 5th Gen Greddy lip to fit on our cars, but that some modification was required. Anyone with a 5th gen lip, please let me know what modification was needed and how hard it was to do, I've been thinking of getting a front lip on my car, either body-colored or a carbon fiber one to stand out a little bit, nothing too ricey though. Anyway let me know if you know anything about this........ :dunno:

This isn't a 5gen lip but its a "lip". This is 87AccordsterLX's car. Its garden edging. Simple and looks good. http://www.ghalili.com/nathan/3geez/P4201290.JPG

wickedaccord has one, i also have one but i don't have any pics i don't think, i'll try to find one. I just have a stock one, it looks good, and it didn't take any real modification. All we did was use roofing screws to hold it on. It required a bit of extra bend at each corner but other than that it fit great.

I can' tell from the picture what it looks like but at least i know it fits so i'll try and pick one up sometime. Is wickedaccord's an aftermarket or a stock front lip?

wicked got his used from some guy...he posted in the newsletter and some guy had one and sold it to him...he says if you gonna get one then go with the 5g 94-95 with the smaller tailights. 96-97 lip is a bit big...i'll do the garden edgin and you won't be able to tell..you'll see lol

Be careful though b/c nothing will be a perfect fit without at least a little modification. From what I hear, the 1st Gen legend lips fit pretty well, as well as the 1st Gen Integra. I still have yet to try the 5th gen lip, but I'll be trying that one soon enough.

Other options are basically endless as long as you're willing to put some effort into making them fit. I've worked with older 626 lips, 1st Gen CRX Si lips and Volvo lips and had some pretty good results.

here's a few the 626 on my hatch (white), and the Volvo on my coupe (red):

I think the garden edging would work if you beefed it up from behind, but that 5th gen lip looks way better - Its all about the little details like the bottom profile of the lip. Anyways, this means yet another addition to the list I'm taking to the wreckers

Im curious as well, that Volvo lip looks OEM

I would guess the Volvo to be early 90's. Many of the models have that same lip, but it's not just as easy as looking at the car. It's actually an "under-lip" if that makes any sense. It's under the bumper, and not very obvious. Not to mention, it looks like it's part of the bumper, so again, it does not stick out at a "lip" per-say.

But just remember, it's not as easy as taking it off the Volvo and installing it on our cars. You will need two of these lips in order to make one for our car. For the 88-89's it's even more of a pain in the ass b/c you have to extend the sides as well as the center.

As soon as I get access to a digital camera, I'll get better pics of the seams where the pieces meet.

Anyone want to comment on what mods actually need to be made to the 5th gen lip to get it to fit? I have a brand new one laying in my garage waiting to go on.

wickedaccord said the 94-95 will fit, but the 96-97 is longer. and as long as it's a good match, it wont be hard to do.

Jim, if you want, bring it up with you when you come to the meet on the 17th. If you want, my house is on the way and you're more then welcome to come by and we'll try and get that thing on there.
