It's baisicly just a cherry bomb that looks like a cat! It's definatly high flow but it's not a cat that actually works they cost alot more

Yeah I have one too and it's more like a resonator or a cherry bomb like volitech said...but yeah it worked for me and it was pretty cheap

It doesn't sound bad but it doesn't sound great! It drones a little more than I'd like but I think the power gain is worth it.

so that things is no more than a damned glass pack? summabitch. i'd like to have a real functional aftermarket cat i could find that cheap. guess we'll all keep dreaming. guess i'll have to be spending something like $130+ on the good real one.

ever tried catco? it's have to be welded on i guess, unless you do a flange swap, catco is approved by CARB so it's legal or something. and whitespy9, there nothing hard to do when it comes to exhaust work, only hard thing is removing the rustyass bolts and nuts.

and removing those is only hard if you don't have a torch...... man I love tools; especially the destructive types

guys, as for removing the "rusty ass bolts" i have a oxy-mapp torch which melts steel but that doesnt really help when the bolt is so rusted that it dosent really exist anymore!!

i was thinking of taking all the supports off the exaust system (so it hangs lower, and i can access the top nut/bolt and just using a circular grinder and grinding off both sides (the nut side and the bolt side)

its not threaded inside is it, so thereotecially if i grindned off the nut and the bolt side it should be able to come loose?

Damn I was waiting on people to give us their review I must have missed it. I have a straight pipe right now and I don't want the weed wacker sound when I floor it. It only does it at a certain rpm though. I just want something that is going to sound nice with my Dynomax/Thrush Turbo Muffler. I know with a straight pipe you loose low end torque and gain high end so I really want to know what you guys think about the ebay cat.

That's correct! Grid them right off.

I don't think it will get rid off the weed wacker sound. Mine still makes that sound at a certain rpm too.. :dunno: But I think turbo will cure that sound I hope!

Well I guess I will just keep my straight pipe unless you guys think it does add some hp. With our cars any hp is good.

damn guys, right now my car sounds like a tin can when im going down the road. If i get the ebay cat, i dont want it to sound buzzy..... thats a little too :rice: for me. What would be a good setup for somthing that sunds low and never buzzy?

88accordhb
06-20-2004, 02:16 PM
i think you might wanna go all out on exhaust to get the sound you want man, aftermarket cat, 2.25 in piping, a muffler, maybe header. I have stock with ebay muffler and the test pipe i just put in, and you wont like it...really loud, low and farty/buzzy at 2-3g's.

Ok, I installed the "Cat" .... it's just a resonator that's made to fit in place of the actual catalytic converter. If you have emission tests... DO NOT get that sucker.... if not ... well... enjoy :)

i have a hollow cat...i dont think it sounds bad. Stock sized piping and a regular muffler, but it has a very distinct sound...i like it
