EDIT

this is my attempt at propane injection. There is no pics of it in the engine bay...forgot that part, however, when the topic was discussed, we decided that there would be too much fuel and not enough air. So, here is my "hood scoop" (coffee can into a soup can, on my intake)...I was bored, and a little drunk. Either way, it didn't work so, I'm gonna lean out the mixture.

Yeah....sorry about that, I was just so excited to be here when I first joined and I didn't know how to get an avatar to fit, and I didn't know about the foundation (thought it was just a name for us), but I did send a mailing address request yesterday, and it didn't go through...delivery failure.

imagestation is cool, ok.........

and of course I'm not ashamed to post those pics, it makes all you guys feel better about your cars :) The thing sounds like a V8 now VROOM, VROOM  I'll post some of my good accord sooner or later

and yes mgd.......helps with the fact that I'm putting a coffe can on my car as an intake........a lesson to all the young people out there (when your 21) beer makes you more creative :)

HondaBoy
06-09-2004, 11:52 AM
do we have to be 21? j/k. seriously, go look at the junk yard for a nice hood scoop. it'd be cool to have a good looking functional hood scoop right over the carb.

ok so you got all that done. but did you actually run it?

HondaBoy
06-09-2004, 09:01 PM
i thought he said he ran it. i'd like to know how exactly it ran. i'd like to know if this worked really well or not because propane is cheaper to get than nos.

cvergi01
06-10-2004, 07:47 AM
well, when I ran it I was goin about 50 mph and had a friend in the back seat open the valve. When he opened it, there was a little something there, then it stalled. I think that I need to lean the mixture more, or run the propane in the intake, what yall think?

HondaBoy
06-10-2004, 08:40 PM
i'd say run it similar to a nos set up. i dont exactly know how your intake is set up though. but if i had to say, right about above the barrel on the carb. that would give it the coldest mixture possible. thats basicly what your going for with nos or propane injection. got any more pix of what your doing or have done?

cvergi01
06-11-2004, 04:27 PM
No pics yet, but I was talking to a guy that came over yesterday, and he said the same thing....to go in through the intake so that the mixture isn't as condensed and utilize the whole -50 degree thing. Yesterday we finished chopping off the roof and the side walls where the window jams meet in the middle. I have a friend who's good at welding, so he's gonna weld a cage in there to keep the structural integrity of the car so it doesn't collapse in the middle when I hit a bump......I've also got a spare carbeurator that I've been rebuilding, so that's gonna go in. In the long run (hopefully not that long) I'm going to pull the engine out to port and polish it myself thanks to the how to section. I may be able to get some pics tonight, but I don't know.

Ok, got one pic of the "convertable" and 2 of my good 3g...one of the convertable pics didn't work, so there's only this one.

The convertable in my shop...still got glass everywhere, still need to take off the side pillars and the passenger side window trim. Bear in mind all the doors are closed

Well I wouldn't blame the alcohol for that scoop since I was drinking when I did most of my car work and I didn't end up with a coffee can scoop. I ended up with a scoop that looks tasteful and functional. Oh well it's your car and if you think it's cool then I guess that's all that matters.

-Mike

P.S. Hope the can didn't have the coffee still in it before you started the car b/c that might not mix too well with the fuel ;)

cvergi01
06-16-2004, 08:51 AM
lol, I had to use the can, because I just finished the propane and not enough air, and I wanted to see if more air would help. Also, this weekend a couple of my friends are gonna come over and we figured, since I took out all the vaccum lines, that we would thread a propane nossle directly into the intake manifold. Where them big holes are.

Well I hope for your sake that you don't blow up doing this stuff. Since you won't have a roof you will fly much further ;)

buzzbomber88lx

i dont think this idea is going to work......
nitrous is under pressure, propane doesnt have as much pressure
nitrous is only flammable when mixed-propane is flammable at all times
it sounds like it is drowning out...
the reason propane injection works on a diesel is because diesel is a really hard to burn gas and when the propane is injected the high heat that is burning that diesel burns that propane in nothing flat so it is like candy energy.

cvergi01
06-17-2004, 07:38 AM
It should somehow, I'm not really relying on it but it's one of those things that keep me busy and my mind working..how do I make this work? hey buzz, what do you think would happen if it were to run off propane only for a controlled period of time. cut fuel, open propane?
