i went down to a dismantler today at in sacramento, they said that a new auto tranny would cost 350, which sounded fair to me, plus i dont have to deal with tryin to pull one from a pick n pull, but is it a reasonable price?

i can pull one from a pick and pull for $75
ask yourself if it's really worth paying that much more not to get one yourself

Why don't you pick up a manual tranny for a lude and get some better gear ratios? Is there a reason you are getting an auto?

the only reason i am getting an auto, is because the car is an auto, and i dont really feel like the xtra expesne of having to install a clutch, a new ecu, and all that stuff. the tranny has about 80,000 on it, the one that i have that is dead is at about 211k, so i figure it will go on for a while longer, the new one has been rebuilt, and has a 3 year warranty, i am also still considering pulling one from a pick n pull, but the lowest miles i found on a 3g down there was about 190k, im not in a real rush, and keep checking it out, but is that a good deal 80k, and a 3 year warranty?

I bought my complete engine and tranny w/ 79k mi for $200 from a honda wrecking yard called Honda's Only in San Jose, CA. (they also sold me the b18c1 for $2500). I dont know what area you are in, but check with all the wrecking yards near you and compare prices, Id be supprised if you cant find a better deal.

yea junkyards usally tripple the prices comapred to pick and pull. allways go to the pick and pull first, junkyards and dealerships are the last resort for parts.
