the speed chip is the thing ive seen on ebay that plugs..piggybacks (no soldering) into your IAT sensor and aparently alters fuel and timing curves much like an ECU upgrade would...now what i want to know is..has anyone tried this thing?...im bidding on one now...and i was also wondering where the IAT sensor is located..they say its 100% safe...and well im gonna try it see if it does anything at all..heh

You could have just bought one from radio shak for like 20 cents

what is it i am looking for exactly?..and if its 20 cents how come everyone with FI hasnt done this?

OMG You fell for the scam. Good job.
Its a resistor the goes on the circut for the intake air sensor. It makes the onboard computer think that there is more air flowing, making it squirt more fuel into the cylinders. The increase is barely noticable, if its noticable at all.

And with the price of gas now days, is it really worth dumping more fuel in there anyways?

well on my friends civic Vtec, it DOES help. On high speeds, like 120mph, it still does raise speed. It didn't before chip. Also, it doesn't kick out the rpms after 7000rpm. Now it does about 8500rpms. Ot is EX. and my friend is really crazy.

oh well it was less than $2 so im not worried

I felt a power decrease when I made my own measureing the cold resistance and matching that

Do you think that something that only costed $2 would even make a difference? If that was the case then everyone would want them and the demand would be much greater and therefore the price would be higher.

okay well...i lost the auction..it went up to 8 so i said screw it...i would like to know what kind of resistor it is..so i can buy it from radio shak...if it makes a difference good..im trying to get everything i can out of this car because i dont have $2000 for a b20 engine..or $2500 or however much it will cost

none of us have much money...
that why we don't waste it on shit like that.
it's not anything that will make a difference on our cars, don't even waste your time :)

i cant locate my IAT sensor on my 86 accord, anybody have a description? i used to drive a Nissan so im new to hondas.

oh, and the resistor is 10 Ohms. Just goto radioshack. i had one on my old car (Nissan Sentra), i did feel a power increase near 3500 RPMs.

Wouldn't the resistance be different for different cars? I heard of some ppl here putting a 4th gen sensor in there car for performane, doing the same thing.

id probably recommenc getting a juicebox or something along those lines..they are more specific for each car

They are still kinda junk if you want a cheaper upgrade go with a 4th gen map sensor

Yes, I have a 4th gen map sensor in my car.
From 3000rpm up to 6200rpm its a big difference. It is a worthwhile mod.

No....MAP sensor, located in the "mystery" black box on your firewall that all the vaccume hoses go into.
Do a search and you will find it.

Oh yea I am the one who first did this mod and I can say with IHE cam fuel stuff ignition and over bore tb THIS HELPED A LOT. I my old one with adapter extra hose so no need to cut anything just plug and play. No need to even open the black box 40$ shipped in the 48 states

Here is the principle behind re-locating it.

IAT Relocation

Step-By-Step Instructions
By relocating your IAT (Intake Air Sensor), you can fool your car's computer into thinking that there is more cool air entering the engine than there actually is. This causes the engine to increase the amount of fuel that enters the cylinders, as well as altering the timing (advancing it 3 degrees), thus creating more power. This mod is especially beneficial when used with an aftermarket air intake system. Please note that there is a trade-off with this mod: your car will loose fuel economy.
Locate your IAT. It is a small sensor found in the S-Tube which leaves the front of the engine and into the airbox. Carefully remove this sensor by pulling it while wiggling slightly.
Cover the hole you left in the S-Tube with some sort of tape (electrical tape would be a good choice, since it's black, as is the tube). Ensure that you completely block the hole, otherwise air will enter thru that hole unfiltered (which could cause engine damage later on).
Cut the wires going to the IAT sensor, and patch in a longer piece of wire. Use some shrink tubing to ensure a good, dry connection.
Relocate the IAT sensor to a suitable location in a grill near the front of your car. Be sure that you route the wires away from any possible sources of heat or where it could rub against another part, as this could cause the wire coating to wear off, thus causing a short circuit. Cavalier Z24 owners may wish to place the sensor behind the inserts near the fog lights, whereas Sunfire owners can place it anywhere in the hex grills. Remember, the idea here is to get as much cool air flowing over the sensor as possible. Don't place it behind your license plate or someplace where the air won't directly contact the sensor, as this defeats the purpose of the mod!

I still haven't got a response from anyone about a previous question I had concerning IAT either.

Has anyone ever relocated theirs? I know that sounds rice as fuck, but it supposedly works on many different makes and models.

Relocating might have an exceedingly small effect as our engines don't have excessive controll over timing and fuel flow as newer cars do I sound with a resistor I got no difference at all. Some cars have ecu's that will ignore the iac if you have a resistor in there. Chances are you will not get any worthwile gains from the IAC.
