i dunno if yall talked about this b4 or not...... IF i adjust my valve clearance thing....and make it gooooood !! .... will that help gain power or will it JUST make my motor quieter ???

Funny you ask that, I just did that to an A20 Prelude last night.
More power is debateable, but it definitely runs smoother and quieter. I can't count the amount of Honda's I've seen that should have this done.

ummmm ok .... anybody else thinks its debateable ??

if the clearences are bad enough you will lose performance so by readjusting the clearences to spec you are not gaining additional power but only restoring the lost power. I dont see how by adjusting clearences to spec will ammount in HP beyond the stock rating.

IMO not debatable at all.

Funny you should say that! i just did my valve clearances on my B20. in my case it has improved power since, they were far too tight after a head change!
Thouht it was slow! been done 700miles in it! - opps!

Is there anything unusual to watch out for when adjusting valves except the new valve cover gasket and such? Im planning on doing it this week and just wanted to doube check...

Yea you should allways check you valve lash. They are just like sparks plugs.... hidden power. If you have a compresion tester I recomed testing the compression then adjusting lash to spec and re test to see if there were a change in compression. I did this for many hours trying to get the best compression and I ended up with my lash being set a little bit higher then stock spec.
If you have a free day I suggest giving it a try. :)

can someone tell me what are some symptoms of valve clearances being off, and also about how long does it take to fix, day/weekend/few days, etc...

the only real symptoms of it being off it not optimin performance, so it is hard to notice really. Like I said it is like spark plugs (hidden power) you never really notice a difference until you get new ones or change the gaps, and still that won't be a big change.
It will take you an hour to adjust the gaps, pretty easy to do. Raise the front of car inorder to get acces to crank pulley, remove valve cover, and go at it.
