I ordered the upper control arms for my sister's car (89 LXI) and they didn't come with the bushings. Is it possible to use the old ones? Or should I just get new ones? I'm guessing I'm gonna have to get new ones. And what is the best way to get the bushings inside the control arms? Is it gonna be really hard to get them in? or will they just slide in? WD40 or a different kinda grease??? Any help would be great!

Thanks

The new ones can be pressed in with a vise and some grease. Synthetic grease works best, and also gives the bushing great lube for quietness. Although with stock-type rubber you won't have that problem. Here's a great place to get new rubber bushings, and the part number for your bushings. :deal:

Ok thanks. I will have to pick up some grease too. I tried doing them once on my 3g and I had no grease, unded up screwin up the bushing and it squeaks like a bastard.

A new set of bushings were $26 at Napa. I went the chepo route and took a sawzall and cut the old control arm in half the long way after removing everything except the bushings. I took a section of threaded rod and hammered the olds ones out. They looked perfectly fine to me. So I pressed them into the new arm. That was about 50,000 miles ago and have had no problems.
