1. Choose a mechanical oil pressure gauge that fits your style.
2. run the tube from the back of the gauge through the firewall and run it to the rear of the engine near the oil filter
3. use an extension and socket, wrench or someother way to remove the factory sensor. (24mm)
4. get the proper adapter to screw into the hole
5. hook up the tube to the adapter
6. hook the lights up on the gauge
7. fire the car up and see if it works

NOTES:
-engine should have 50+PSI @ 2000 RPM
-use teflon tape on all conections
-make sure you have no sharp bends or kinks in the tube

#4.5. slide on a rubber/silicone vacuum line to protect the tube in areas it might be damaged, also helps appearance wise.

It may be a few days, but I will get it for ya trav. I couldnt find the zctual sending unit I pulled BUT iI did try the low pressure switch from the AC lines, same thread. It appears to me a metric 10. I went ahead and pulled the filter housing off the spare motor and will take it in later this week to check the thread pitch on it

Also, where can we buy this adaptor? Or does it come with the guage? I've never installed one, so I don't know.

relief valve pressure settting at 80 deg C is 54 - 65 psi at 3000rpm hope that helps a bit too ;)

my gauge came with a few adapters... they wouldnt fit right so i bought another one.. now i have 3 fittings to get the thing workin, but it does... 60 PSI at like 3000 ... not bad

Sorry for the delay in posting the thead sizes, I've been really busy lately.

The thread size for the oil pressure sending unit is a metric 10x1.25 (thats fine threads for those who don't know)

Hope that helps anyone who wants to go with a gauge rather than the idiot light

it sure is... its usually copper or somekind of very tough synthetic material... mine was copper with the fittings soldiered on...

My $.02
the threads in the filter adaptor are 1/8bsp that is brittish standard pipe. if you try to screw in a 1/8 npt you can strip out the threads. they look the same but there is a 1 thread per inch difference. why honda uses obscure brittish threads i don't have a clue. companys like vdo and autometer have this adaptor. this thread has been used since honda was first in existence.

The mechanical oil gauge line doesn't fill up with oil if you have all the fittings nice & tight during assembly. Just insulate it with a loom of some sort (heat resistant)...
